In
March 2008, a number of ‘Traders’ with direct sales businesses got
together with one objective and vision, ‘to showcase their business in
support of a local charity’.
With that in mind, Asa Cunniff, our
fundraiser, proposed we put our efforts into supporting both Time2Shine
and the Alexander Devine Children’s Cancer Trust who are both
relatively new charities in the Maidenhead area and have the interests
of young people at the heart of their ethos.
Asa then approached the Holiday Inn in Maidenhead, who readily agreed to help and support our project.
From
a small working party, co-ordinated by Christina Goble, the Team for
the Christmas Shopping Extravaganza has grown with support from all
sides. Anjali Mittal of Mantra Infotech volunteered to develop a
website for the event; Adi Stephen of Noodle and her brother Jez
Shervell, our photographer on the day, have prepared the flyers and
posters and local newspaper and magazine editors all want to be
involved.
Put that together with a vibrant mix of stalls,
activities and demonstrations, it promises to be an excellent start to
the Christmas shopping season.
